The piece was painted on a fire station. It's a symbolic painting of the fire fighter and in a greater sense, everyone who tries to make things better. Jack wanted to paint a simple yet meaningful piece of a person with their hands out, offering help. He painted the image with the intention of transferring the emotion of empathy on to it. He prefers to not describe his work in detail as he wants to allow free interpretation.
