Greed

Marianne Sadowski's Libertad y Derechos Humanos Para Todos and Greed were created in part of the 'Utopia/Dystopia' portfolio, curated by artist Miyo Stevens-Gandara. Miyo invited 26 artists to each pick two cards from a full deck, incorporating a diverse range of interpretations and ideas into a single, unified collection. Here, she calls for liberty and universal rights for all in a utopian image contrasted by a personification of the hefty power of Greed, presented as a vehicle of injustice and inequality. Sadowski's mission and artistic aim is to push boundaries in printmaking and other art practices. The natural imagery in her works expressed through detailed carving methods convey the fine line of life itself. These pieces reflect social justice concerns in a time where a personal, local, and global issues converge.
