Passed down from earlier generations, this plate is one of the distinctive pieces made by Longquan Kiln in the Yuan dynasty (1271-1368 AD), with a wide folded rim, short bulging belly and two vividly embossed fish on the bottom which forms a circle with one’s head facing the other’s tail. Its greyish green body with a smooth surface is covered with a thick coating of lustrous green glaze, on which small natural cracks on be seen.
