That this is an image of Green Tara, rather than another form of the goddess Tara, can be concluded from the blue lily (utpala) held in her left hand. With the right hand the goddess performs the gesture of giving. Her palms are marked with wheels, one of the characteristics of a great being. The goddess sits in the posture of royal ease (lalitasana), her pendent foot supported by a separate small lotus. The second blue lily, with one blossom shown in profile, has been added for reasons of symmetry and has no iconographic significance.
