Excavated in the construction site of the development zone of Yangzhou city in 1996, this water pot, typical of ceramics made by Changsha Kiln, is regarded as one of the most wonderful pieces among all the small pots manufactured by this kiln. In a small, cute shape, this pot has a tapering opening with smooth rim, sloped shoulders, bulging belly and pie-shaped base. It is covered with green glaze, on the surface of which some ice-crack patterns can be seen. Along the opening scatter three well-placed green Chinese characters of “xin” meaning “heart”, composed of free-flowing strokes, constituting an interesting adornment to this piece.
