As we have already indicated previously, this stately and elegant dog was part of the beaten lead sheet work Woman with Parasol, 1921, currently unlocated, which is one of the seven pieces - later there would end up being ten, since its author would unfold three of them in two separate and distinct works - made by Gargallo between 1920 and 1923, during what we have called the lead intermediate, which would be the origin of the sculptures modeled in negative, a fundamental innovation with transcendent consequences that began to materialize with the whole of the from which this hieratic and refined animal figure comes from.
