This is a kitchen utensil used for grilling meat, and is also called a gridiron or a grilling iron. It is a square or round tool for gilling meat or fish, which is made by weaving a wire net rimmed with iron. It is generally either round or rectangular, and meshed with steel or copper wire. When using it to grill food, it was placed on top of a trivet or latch placed upon hardwood charcoal fire in a cast iron brazier.
