This is a professional performance of the traditional dance of Yucatan, the Jarana, with the performers fro the Ballet del Ayuntamiento de Merida in traditional dress. It is part of a showcase of traditional dances, music and jokes that happen in many towns and villages in Yucatan (the Vaqueria), most often on the day of the community saint. In this case, the showcase takes place every Monday evening in front of the Town Hall in Merida's central square.
