Growth

The concept for this piece is "growth". The IPAF festival in Salt River, the first of it's kind, planted a seed and the way it has stemmed out has affected the artists, organisers, local community and all who were involved. Hopefully, this will continue to grow and have more positive effects, branching out into different avenues. Mars is one of Johannesburg's most prolific graffiti artists,his unmistakable art can be seen across the city in various forms,on the sides of buildings, motorpasses,and abandoned lots. Mars' work has a subtle innocence about it. His light hearted,mischievous style comes from wanting to make art that offers viewers a reprieve from the everyday grind. Animated colours are woven together with bold crisp lines, a result of his strong graffiti influence. His unique identifiable style, refined on the streets, adapts intuitively to the works on canvas in this show.
