Buddhist deity presented seated in meditation on a lotus flower. The lotus flower is the symbol of purity and a high level of spiritual attainment. This deity was initially male but gradually acquired feminine characteristics. The image shown here is holding a jar of holy water for sprinkling and blessing the faithful. Note also the long earlobes and the figure of Buddha on the deity’s crown.
