Guelaguetza Festival 2023

The word "Guelaguetza" derives from the Zapotec "Guendalezaa" and means "Offering, present or fulfillment". However, the Guelaguetza festival, which takes place in the capital of the State of Oaxaca on the "Mondays of the Hill" in July, is a festival of the people and for the people that brings together the different cultures of Oaxaca. In this celebration the different ethnic groups and mestizo cultures from the regions of the state share their dances, traditions and gastronomy with locals and visitors.
