Guerrero Jaguar

The sculpture represents a man sitting on a small seat decorated with chalchihuites or jade beads and conches, richly dressed with a paper fan on the back of his head and fine stone jewelry like earflaps, bracelets and a green stone necklace, bangles with turquoise and gold, and an anthropomorphous breastplate that, for its style, seems to be a relic. All these elements indicate that this is the image of a noble, who in addition carries a helmet in the shape of a feline head. This attire has suggested to several researchers that it is the representation of a warrior of the prestigious order of the jaguars, reserved only for those who had a noble lineage, besides having achieved some extraordinary military action.
