War had an important role among the pre-Hispanic towns of Mesoamerica, an activity that increased during the late postclassic (900-1521 AD). Among the Mexicas, war was not only a mechanism of cultural and political expansion but also a way to get goods and products of remote lands, as well as captives for sacrifice.Historic sources allow us to know more about the organization and army education among the Nahua towns in the center of Mexico. There were two types of military orders inside the Mexica army: the Eagle Warriors and the Jaguar Warriors, who not only were associated with two animals, but also with cosmic levels connected with them: the eagles represent the sky, a warm, luminous and masculine space; in turn, the jaguars were associated with the Underworld, a cold, dark and feminine space. Both are the expression of the complementary opposite, a fundamental principle in the Mesoamerica world vision. Mtro. Hugo García Capistran
