The artist has treated the work in two ways and techniques. On the left side, to describe the sea, he has used small and broad brushstrokes in the context of impressionism, while the child preparing to dive in and the woman in the hat have been painted more abstractly, with large brushstrokes. The contours of the figures are clear and define the figures in space. We do not have full knowledge of the time and place of the scene, but we can feel the breeze blowing and the summer sun, even if we cannot define whether it is morning or afternoon. The play is nothing like the aniconic, suprematist studies of Kliun's earlier and later years. It is likely that Kliun is capturing a real event, that is, capturing a real scene in Gurzuf, and that the work was painted plein air.
