The combination of traditional Korean woodwork made with hand tools and the Western modeling structures output through 3D printer nozzles, in other words, the human hands and the hands of the machine, which are oriented toward humanity Today, as the Korean Wave is spreading across Asia and beyond, we can not easily recognize that many traditional crafts and hanok architecture, which we believe are ours, have a manufacturing techniques and forms imported from the West. I may even feel that our contemporary contemplated by Western aesthetics rather than our old thing is a more unique traditional formative. In this regard, the Gye-dong of Bukchon Hanok Village, located between Gyeongbok Palace and Changdeok Palace in Seoul, represents a more natural and contemporary Korean image as compared to the overly commercialized Samcheong-dong or Gahoe-dong that only houses Hanok. In other words, preserved hanok, modern-style house, and modern architecture are harmonious and show realistic contemporary Korean tradition. Considering that the shaping trends that shape the times are the aesthetic implications of the contemporaries, this phenomenon is a result of natural cultural fusion and a change in preference aesthetics(shaping trends). The sum of visual aesthetics perceived as synchronic in Gye-dong road of Seoul, where contemporary Korean traditions are alive, can be considered to be a more realistic Korean traditional form than a tradition that has been stylized. It can also be seen not only from the viewpoint of fusion of Korean traditional style and western form, but also from the viewpoint of diachronic, in the mixture of traditional Korean handicraft and mechanical mass production introduced from the West. In the succession of the traditional molding of contemporary craftsmen, mechanical production methods including electric tools are used in many parts implicitly, which is a necessary and indispensable method which can only be applied to modern products. In particular, the 3D printer, which has been gradually expanded since its patent-free phase-out, is seeking the hands of the craftsmen who pursued the beautiful and complete finish, but the distortions caused by the natural defects and the expansion and contraction caused by the stacking of the machine nozzles are accompanied by the natural dents and cracks of the earthenware which are formed in the pasting of the ceramic pot. Therefore, ‘Gyodong series’ is a collaboration of contemporary (realistic) Korean traditional formative work that unfinished machines with the hands and defects of the pursuer of perfection work together.
