"Gypsy wagons," sometimes called wardos, were used for travelling, for fortune-telling and as residences. Although some of these vehicles were imported from England, many appear to have been made by American carriage manufacturers; however, only a few survive, because of the Romani custom of burning the possessions of an individual after death.
