Sacromonte is the old gypsy quarter in the mountains of Valparaíso. Halfway up the Cuesta del Chapíz, the Sacromonte Way begins on the right, a path of strong and exciting colours that, through slopes and bends, offers panoramas of wild beauty and charm.
On the right, at the bottom of a deep gorge, the River Darro flows in a lazy and cheerful stream. On the left, the Gypsy caves, dazzling with whitewash and crowned with pita and prickly pears. In these caves, since time immemorial, zambras have been celebrated, singing and dancing parties full of strength, rhythm and liveliness, to the sound of clapping and guitars, which last until dawn and are still one of the most attractive folkloric spectacles for outsiders when night falls.
