H.E. Mr. Fernando Cotoner Chacón

Portrait of His Excellency Lieutenant General Fernando Cotoner Chacón, Marquis of La Cenia. He was Director of the Civil Guard from September 28, 1874 to January 23, 1882, when the corps went into reserve. During his directorship, he introduced the use of batons for the heads of units and provinces, as well as order books so officers could note down any relevant incidents during their inspections.
