Portrait of Nano Nagle: Edited

A portrait, in oils, of Nano Nagle. The painting was probably painted in Bath, in late 1760 or 1770s. Original hangs in Nano Nagle's convent parlour , at Nano Nagle Place, Cork. While it is often attributed to James Barry RHA, there is no conclusive identification of the painter; James Barry regularly painted Catholic subjects, but it is possible that this was painted by one of his students. The photograph of the painting has been cropped to focus on her face; a copy of her signature, digitally reproduced from a letter in her hand, has been superimposed using Photoshop; the original painting is unsigned and undated.
