Coloured print titled ‘Habite de Jardinier’ based upon a similar print from the series ‘Les Costumes Grotesques et les Metiers’ by Nicolas de Larmessin II, a 17th century French engraver. The gardener is depicted in a playful costume made up of objects associated with his trade. He carries a plethora of tools over his right shoulder and holds a watering can in his left hand. His forearms are encircled with potted plants, he wears a decorated planter around his chest and a fruit tree emerges from his hat. Many other plants adorn the costume; the setting is a formal garden which appears in the background. The date of this version of the print is unknown.
