A wooden box with a front hinged door and metal handle on top. There are two stickers on the front, one faded and torn reading "AUSTRALIAN INSTITUTE OF ... /", and the other white and typed reading "H8/1/1 / HEALTH S.P.H. & T.M. / NOT FOR DISPOSAL ...".

The box contains a black and silver metal haemoglobinometer with a U-shaped foot, flat metal plate at the top and silver screw knob at the back. The box also contains a red fabric-covered case containing associated instruments.
