During his 2007 deployment to Iraq as the Army’s Artist-in-Residence, M. Sgt. Thiel witnessed and photographed this scene of a Soldier interacting with Iraqi civilians on Haifa Street in Baghdad. A group of children clustered around the Soldier, interested and eager to engage.
