The work of the shipbuilders Antonio de Gaztañeta, Ciprián Autrán, and Juan Pedro Boyer established a new system of shipbuilding, known as the ''Spanish system,'' in the dockyards of the new Bourbon fleet during the first half of the 18th century.
This ship model is built to the specifications of Antonio de Gaztañeta. The shipbuilder and naval officer used his expertise to create a new fleet, and his ''Gaztañeta system'' improved ships' hulls and established the dimensions required to improve steering and make them more robust.
This half model is a replica built by Jesús María Perona Lertxundi based on the original, which belongs to a private collection.
