Heim & Sohn, St. Gallen1832

Hambach Castle

Hambach Castle
Neustadt an der Weinstraße, Germany

The Hambach cloth was made in memory of the festival in Switzerland and immediately confiscated by the Bavarian government when it was imported into Palatinate. It shows 16 men whose names are especially linked to the liberal ideas of 1832. The female figures in the 4 corners of the cloth symbolise wisdom, bravery, justice, and prudence.
