Hand-drawn postcard from World War I, of a man on a bicycle laden with tools & basket of potatoes cycling past an ‘Allotments to Let’ sign. The cyclist is pursued by a boy running alongside with text: “Hi! Billy Come on let’s foller ‘im” – “Wot for?” – “Spuds! Why ‘e might skid”. Dated and signed by the artist (initials) ‘F.R.B. 26.7.17’. F R Bolton sent this card from 8 Dragon Terrace, Harrogate, to his niece Elsie G. Bolton at the Telephone Dept., G.P.O. Hull in Yorkshire.
