The Museums at Lisle Station Park
Lisle, United States

This is a model of a hand operated water pump. You can see authentic water pumps around the museum site, but this one shows how they work. There is a container in the wood box that can be filled with water. A person pulls and pushes the lever to pump water from the box, just like someone would use a full-sized authentic one to pump water out of the ground for cooking, cleaning, and drinking.
