Fashion designer Bonnie Cashin revolutionized handbag design in America after joining Coach in 1962. Applying her modern sensibilities to handbag design, she created functional bags for the busy modern woman. Integral purses and zipped pockets were a feature of Cashin’s designs, as were bags that folded, and layered designs that could be used separately or combined – these were promoted as ‘Cashin Carry’ bags. This design is based on a traditional man’s briefcase.
