Hermès was founded as a saddler’s workshop in 1837. By the 1950s the company had transitioned into luxury leather goods and introduced the famous ‘Kelly’ bag, shown here, named in honour of the Hollywood actress Grace Kelly, later Princess Grace of Monaco.
