Artist, clothes and textile designer Sonia Delaunay brought decorative swathes of block colour from the fringes of art and dress into high fashion during the 1920s. Her textile designs were made into dresses, swimwear and coats and worn by movie stars, including Gloria Swanson. The geometric patterning on this bag was clearly inspired by the work of Delaunay. It is executed in cotton cordé, a durable but highly decorative fabric.
