An engraved single sheet of inscription plates: 'Front plate erected by the lovers of botany in Europe in memory of David Douglas a native of this parish....'.Also lists a few of the numerous trees, shrubs and ornamental plants, introduced by Douglas. Published by W.&S Gardner, Lithograph, Perth in Scotland. Undated but perhaps c.1841. David Douglas (1799-1834) died in Hawaii (gored by a bull) and was a noted botanist and plant hunter, born in Scone. A memorial was erected there in the parish churchyard in 1841 after a public subscription arranged by Perth Horticultural Society.
