The Gizmondo is a seventh generation handheld video game console manfactured by Tiger Telematics and released in the United Kingdom and United States in 2005. The console initially sold for 퉌229, but could also be purchased for 퉌129 if the user enabled "Smart Ads," which were a series of random advertisements that could appear up to three times per day on the system. This free advertising allowed the cost of the machine to be lowered. However, Tiger Telematics went bankrupt before the Smart Ads could be enabled, so users who purchased the system at a discounted price never saw any ads. Less than 25,000 Gizmondo units were sold by the time the system was discontinued in 2006, and only 14 games were ever developed.
