The apparel of the Hani ethnic minority group is all made of hand-dyeing homespun fabric. The material they use to dye the fabric is a kind of herb commonly known as isatis root. It is a long-established tradition to plant and dye with this herb. This underwear blouse hasn’t faded much, unveiling the ingenious dyeing technique it applied. The bottom hem of this garment is embellished with thirteen strips in different shades of indigo, a testimony to the genius dyeing skills of the Hani people.
