Fragment of a domestic Jewish ritual lamp, known as a Hanukkah menorah or hanukiah, from the street known as Calle La Esperanza in Barbastro's Jewish quarter. Only two small oil lamps remain, with a rectangular base and perforation used to attach them to the wall. These lamps were formed of eight receptacles in the form of oil lamps lined up side by side, with one large lamp at the end. They were designed to be lit during Hanukkah or the Festival of Lights, a celebration that takes place on the 25th day of the month of Kislev (December in the Gregorian calendar). One lamp would be lit each day over the eight days of the festival, starting on the right.
