Hanuman, the monkey devotee of Rama, is portrayed carrying Rama and his brother Lakshmana. Rama, his skin colored green, is on Hanuman’s right shoulder while Lakshmana rides on his left. Hanuman is carrying them to Sugreeva, king of the monkeys, who was to help them in their search for the abducted Sita. Hanuman is the devotee par excellence.
