Happy People

Segun Aiyesan graduated from Obafemi Awolowo University in 1995 and left a career as an oil rig engineer at Chevron to pursue art full-time. Aiyesan works with pastels, watercolors, oils, and acrylics, often exploring psychological themes. His art reflects his passion for the life of the mind and the human experience.

This piece showcases grotesque figures with wide, unnatural smiles. Some parts of their bodies appear missing, left bare without paint, creating an illusion of fragmentation. The eerie quality of the figures reflects a distorted portrayal of human emotions and the complex concept of happiness.
