This print is part of Yoshitoshi's famous series "100 Aspects of the Moon" which depicts scenes from traditional Chinese and Japanese history and lore. Showing the power of music, Fujiwara no Yasumasa (958-1036), the Heian governer, charms the outlaw Hakamadare, preventing him from robbing Yasumasa. The story features in several other prints in the series.
