Hardwick House probably dates to the early 16th century. It has a mid-17th century wing and was altered during the 18th, 19th and 20th centuries. It was probably built by Richard Lybbe, who purchased the manor from the Hardwick family in 1526. Part of the house was damaged during the English Civil War and was replaced by a new wing, added in circa 1660.
