1949 model FL

For the 1949 model year, the largest motorcycle in the H-D® line now had hydraulic front suspension. In fact, the new front fork was dubbed "Hydra Glide," to evoke smooth running on the road. The fork assembly was conceived with the assistance of Brooks Stevens, who would later be credited as an important American industrial designer.
