Like most racing bikes, the FH Racer is as streamlined and light as possible. There is no transmission or brakes. And since it has no start mechanism, it needs to be "pull-started" by another vehicle. The frame was designed for the wooden speedways known as board tracks, or "motordromes." By 1924, however, board track racing was on the wane. Difficult to maintain, many courses fell into disrepair, and a series of horrifying, well-publicized accidents contributed to the sport's demise.
