Ganesh Haloi is a leading abstract painter known for his minimalist landscapes in which the forms of trees and land are reduced to dots and lines. After graduation, he joined the Archaeological Survey of India as a resident artist and was appointed to document the Wall paintings of Ajanta Caves from 1957-1963. He taught at the Government College of Art and Craft from 1963 till his retirement. Since 1971, he has been a member of the Society of Contemporary Artists.
