Hat with a brim, made of machine stitched plaited strips of natural coloured leaf with an interwoven black strip. A plume is inserted into the centre of the crown. This consists of red, brown and yellow feathers and black ones tied to a plastic(?) stick with nylon string. The inside of the brim is marked in ink with the letters M.L. The hat was given as a gift to the figure known as A'a by Maurice Lenoir a visitor from Rurutu, in 1989.
