Hauled Out

b. 1967, the Philippines

The artist enjoys working with both installations and paintings, enjoying the inventiveness of developing an image in painting and the immediacy and 'manufacturing' that typically comes with his installations. Bacolor's works often carry specific social and political commentary surrounding environmental welfare.

Resembling a vitrine of relics in a natural science museum, Hauled Out represents a surrealistic scene of familiar objects re-contextualised and infused with fetishistic elements, that also hit at perpetual cycles of destruction and renewal.
