Museum Nasional Indonesia
Jakarta, Indonesia

This head dress was likely, used by Java royalty, during the 9th or 10th century. A similar piece was found, at the same site, and there seems little doubt that the two adornments were originally created as a pair. The head dress is spherical and adorned with curls, similar to the style used for statues depicting the Buddha. Each curl turns clockwise, and at the top is a double lotus with a white crystal.
