Headdress that represents a feline face with bird beak and stepped designs with volutes ML100006

This gold frontal headdress is part of a set or ornaments also composed by a pair of ear ornaments. The headdress has two elements that resemble wings or feathers and a feline face with a beak composes its central design. This set shows the feline, bird and snake trilogy, the three sacred animals of ancient Peru. These ornaments show the supreme power that the great lords had in the past.

Este adorno frontal de oro forma parte de un conjunto de adornos compuesto también por un par de orejeras. El frontal tiene elementos laterales que parecen penachos o alas de ave, y el diseño de la parte central está formado por un rostro de felino con pico de ave. En este conjunto se aprecia la trilogía felino, ave, serpiente, los tres animales sagrados del antiguo Perú. Este ajuar muestra el supremo poder que los grandes señores tenían en el pasado. (UH)
