'Heart’s Labyrinth I' (1984) is a very personal ballet. The title enabled Jiří Kylián to go to great lengths, in order to make an artistic statement.

Kylián continued his search for the deepest and darkest parts of the human mind in 'Heart’s Labyrinth II'. In the programme he wrote about this ballet: “A poet who bundles his poems, provides each poem with a new meaning. Analogously, I want to provide meaning to my Labyrinth-ballets. The work on these pieces will be an un-going quest, without a limitation of time.”
