Clare says: "Heidi and Dave Marrow both work for the University Hospital of the North Midlands at the Royal Stoke site. Heidi is a nursing assistant currently working on the frail elderly admissions unit and Dave is a triage assistant on the emergency admissions unit for cancer patients. Heidi and Dave decided that they wanted a portrait that would be a special memory of them for their family and also showed their strong connection with Stoke and the hospital. I was delighted to be allowed to produce such a personal portrait of a lovely couple at this uncertain time."
Heidi says: "I spent a couple of days looking at the #portraitsforNHSheroes not feeling I was a hero or worthy but I paired with Clare after seeing Tom on the news and chose to have a picture with my husband who is also a NHS worker. I wanted a picture that my children would want to keep in this time of not knowing our outcome of the virus. I wanted to show them there was love and light in he darkness too.
The painting shows our hospital in the background and shows the sunlight perfectly on the ground behind us. We are united in the fight at work and the protection of our family. The painting came the week Dave was suffering with the virus reminding us of the light and boosting our strength in the fight.
Thank you Clare and Tom for a memory of this time that will always be part of our story.
VIS UNITA FORTIOR (United strength is stronger)"
