“These fine Caterpillars were found in the Government Domain, near Sydney, on the Eucalyptus, in November – and when full grown, measured from 4 to 4 1/2 inches .… The body of the Caterpillar is full, and plump, and has to the touch a disagreeable and grating feel.” Description from an unpublished manuscript for AW Scott, ’Australian Lepidoptera and their Transformations’ (1864-1898).
