The oldest surf club in South Australia, the Henley Surf Lifesaving Club was formed in 1925. Between 1925 and 1965 it rescued 630 people from the sea. The club's traditional uniform consisted of a dark blue and white costume with a royal blue 'H' on the front and back. In the 1944-45 season, the Henley Women's Surf Lifesaving Club was formed.
