Some of the earliest paper toy books for children were produced from about 1810 by the publisher S. and J. Fuller at the ‘Temple of Fancy’ in Soho. First and foremost toy manufacturers, the Fullers also invented successful paper doll books, which followed children in a series of moral adventures. The series included interchangeable paper heads and several sets of clothes to which the head could be attached.
