This bust, from a herm, portrays a Hellenistic prince. It is a Roman copy of the 2nd century A.D. based on a Greek original of the 3rd century B.C. Although somewhat damaged (the nose and part of the chin are missing), enough survives to recognize a young, beardless male wearing a diadem, the ends of which fall forward of his shoulders. His curly hair is cropped short. The subject has been identified as Demetrios Poliorketes.
